Salisbury Faith in Water Workshop
From 5 – 7 July 2009 EMF, ARC (Alliance of Religions and Conservation) and IRC (International Water and Sanitation Centre) organized a workshop in Salisbury, called Faith in Water.
The idea was initiated by EMF and ARC and was aimed at bringing together religions and water experts to jointly develop programs for clean drinking water and sanitation facilities at faith-related schools in developing countries. More than 50% schools in these countries are related to Faith institutes.
With a total of 40 participants, 6 religions were represented, together with several UN institutes, World Bank, Dutch innovators and experts from ARC, IRC and EMF.

Faith in Water
In 2007 EMF and ARC have been investigating how the clean drinking and sanitation water issue in developing countries could be linked to the presence of the various Faith Institutes in developing countries. As more than 50% of schools in these areas are directly Faith related, the conclusion was that drinking and sanitation water at schools was an obvious opportunity. The International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC) in the Netherlands was approached and agreed to cooperate with ARC and EMF on this initiative.
