EMF presented a paper to the Soroptimists in Amsterdam
On July 11th the Soroptimists had a large convention, attended by 1000 women members  from all over the world and the main theme was “water”.
Allerd Stikker gave a presentation on how EMF promotes solutions for water scarcity in developing countries.

Sponsorlunch EMF
EMF organized a sponsorlunch on June 5th with presentations by Tom Brenninkmeijer on GoodEnergy, Martin Palmer on ARC (Alliance of Religions and Conservation) and Allerd Stikker on EMF.
120 people attended and the total amount of sponsor funding resulting from this very lively event was 42.000 Euro.
With this funding EMF can continue to be an active catalyst and networker for improving access to clean drinking water to billions of people in rural areas in developing countries.

A 4 part TV documentary series 'Het Blauwe Goud' (The Blue Gold), on problems and solutions on freshwater shortages in the developing world has been aired on Dutch TV by NCRV in June 2008. The initiative for this documentary was taken by EMF, including selecting the projects and an interview with the Prince Willem Alexander.

In October 2007 the book 'Water, the Blood of the Earth', subtitled: 'Exploring Sustainable Water Management for the New Millennium', by the Chairman of EMF has been published by Cosimo Books, New York (www.cosimobooks.com). The booklet can be purchased online at Amazon.com and BarnesNoble.com for US readers, on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr and Amazon.de for European readers and within short also on Bol.com.

EMF's chairman has been appointed as Honorary Member Board of Trustees of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation in the ARC's Board meeting of September 2007.

The Micro Water Facility was established on 1 July 2007. The initiative to set up the MWF was taken by EMF.
       
The first full-scale Daoist ecology workshop at ARC's new Daoist Ecology Temple at Taibaishan was held on 31 May 2007

International Desalination Association (IDA) - meeting Paris
As a result of the publications and activities of EMF in the field of desalination, the chairman was invited to present EMF's views during a Board meeting of the International Desalination Association on October 5th in Paris.

EMF advised the board to be more active on promoting desalination opportunities in the broader context of water scarcity, and not primarily in the technical sense. Also EMF urged that the subject of the environmental effect of brine disposal, a byproduct of desalination, should be addressed on a global scale through professional organisations.

Per August 1st 2006 the chairman of EMF has been appointed as non executive Member of the Board of Voltea Limited, an English company that is the beneficiary of water treatment FTC in Europe and India. Voltea is part of Unilever Ventures.

Aqua-Aero Watersystems, member the Fresh Water Innovators Network has won a “Partners for Water” contest to build and implement the biggest WaterPyramid factory so far in Rajasthan, India. August 2006. see.www.AAWS.nl.
       
The chairman of Ecological Management Foundation has delivered a speech “The Micro Water Entrepreneur” at the Wetsus Conference “Water Verdient Het!” on Thursday 29 June (see www.Wetsus.nl).
       
Aqua Aero Water System, member of the Fresh Water Innovators (FWIN) has won an innovation price of the World Bank for Water Pyramid 24 May 2006 www.aaws.nl, zie artikel in Trouw.

Our project/ARC On the website of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation www.arcworld.org  an interview has been published with the chairman of Ecological Management Foundation: Dutch Foundation shows how marginal action can have a mainstream impact.

Marjan van Lier, one of our board members has attended the Conference on Microcredit in Sarajevo, 8 – 9 March 2006.
      
Else Boutkan, our water expert, has attended the World Water Forum-4 in Mexico in March.
       
A website has been opened for the organisation At@Work (www.ATatwork.org). The overall objective of the AT@Work network is to help reduce the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals. EMF works closely with At@Work.

Daoists dedicate temple and ecology centre on Taibaishan
       
EMF (Else Boutkan) will attend World Water Forum IV from 16th  up to 21st March in Mexico.
During the forum AT@Work will give two times per day a learning session on the subject “appropriate technology”.
     
The Waterpyramide of Aqua Aero Water Systems (FWIN member) will be presented by the local partner of AAWS.
       
Detailed information of the Fresh Water Innovators Network will be available in the NWP Dutch Water Pavilion.
       
Two FWIN members, Aqua Est International and AAWS will as well attend  the Water Forum. Aqua Est will participate at the expo with their own stand.
       
The chairman of EMF Allerd Stikker will deliver a speech at the Coram 2006 Water Quality Symposium and the Coram Sustainable Design Award Ceremony 2nd February in Utrecht: see www.coram.nl and www.coramdesignaward.nl.
