The Ecological Management Foundation (EMF) was established as a not-for-profit organization in March 1990 in the Netherlands.  

The current organisation is run by a board of 5 members and an advisory board of 3 members, consisting of volunteers from various professions. A secretariat coordinates the day to day business, while members of the board and the advisory board separately or jointly look after the various ventures or projects EMF is involved in.
