Documentaries

EMF started with initiating documentaries in 1999 on issues addressed by EMF as a supporting activity, creating public awareness on issues EMF focuses on.

Since then EMF has continued to explore and initiate documentaries in the field of water, poverty and microfinance, in cooperation with professional filmmakers.

  • A 4 part TV documentary series 'Het Blauwe Goud' (The Blue Gold), on problems and solutions on freshwater shortages in the developing world was broadcasted on Dutch TV by NCRV in June/July 2008. The initiative for this documentary was taken by EMF, including selecting the projects and an extensive interview with the Prince Willem Alexander.

  • In cooperation with EMF Films BV : "A Dollar A Day", A 6 part series was broadcasted in the Netherlands on August 31, September 7, 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 2005 by RVU, Nederland 3 at 20.55 hrs. (www.eendollarperdag.tv)
     
  • Within the context of the 2005 UN year of microfinance. The 4 part documentary on poverty has been aired by “Twee Vandaag” (see attachment), AVRO on Nederland 2 in August 2005:

    •    Nigeria (Heineken)
    •    Suriname (Waterleidingbedrijf Amsterdam)
    •    India (DSM/Unilever)
    •    Mozambique (Vitens)
    •    Malawi (TNT)
    •    Peru (Rabobank/Oikocredit)
     
  • In cooperation with the TV Producer Swynk, EMF initiated 6 parts international documentary on the water problems and solutions:

    "Water, The Drop Of Life". The first comprehensive showing of this project occurred at the start of the World Water Forum and ministerial conference in the Hague in 2000. In the meantime this documentary has been aired in 60 countries, including, through Public Broadcasting Systems (PBS) in the United States.
